Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education. Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) seek a dynamic and effective Senior Finance Analyst . This job reports to the Director, Program & Grants Financial Management in the Finance and Accounting division of PPFA. The Finance and Accounting division provides confidence to all stakeholders in the fiscal and fiduciary responsibility of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) and its related entities, and Planned Parenthood Global (PP Global) and its related entities (collectively the Organizations) with a commitment to customer service, sound controls, compliance monitoring, and timely, accurate, and complete reporting, analysis and decision support to further the Federation’s mission.
Purpose: The Senior Finance Analyst supports the Program and Grants Financial Management team, with a strategic focus on Planned Parenthood’s advocacy, political and electoral work and donor-restricted funding in the execution of best practices in fiscal monitoring, reporting, and grants management. He/she works with program teams to promote the highest standards of practice regarding budget monitoring, reporting of actuals and financial forecasting processes. He/she acts under the direction of the Director, Program & Grants Financial Management to execute and monitor resource allocation decisions.
Delivery: The Senior Finance Analyst uses interpersonal and organizational skills to facilitate the accurate and timely completion of financial tasks such as expense reporting, forecasting, and budgeting. The core deliverables for this role include but are not limited to: ●Assist members of the Program and Grants Financial Management team, in collaboration with the Accounting team, in reporting and analysis to ensure that all funding sources are used in a highly efficient and appropriate way in compliance with GAAP and donor intent. ●Coordinate and support members of the Program and Grants Financial Management team in maintaining the timeline of and executing on regularly recurring finance check-ins with program staff; supply organized financial data and analysis in support of these reviews ●Collect and organize financial information for donor proposals and reports; monitor the processes for timely and accurate submissions ●Support the finance and accounting departments in effort report management, reporting, and analysis, helping to ensure the accuracy of allocations for staff-submitted timesheets. ●Assist with various monthly finance tasks such as overhead reviews, project allocations, coding reviews, and other tasks as assigned. ●Perform or coordinate short- and long-term special projects in support of strategic decision-making, especially with Planned Parenthood’s advocacy, political, and electoral work
Engagement: Externally: The role may interact with PPFA’s auditors and various regulatory organizations. Internally: This role advises internal stakeholders on remedial approaches that would enhance the quality of budgeting, spending, and internal and external financial reporting management. The role both reacts to and anticipates the needs of internal stakeholders across the organization and ensures alignment of services to meet those needs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): ●One to three years of progressively responsible accounting and/or financial management experience; Non-profit experience a plus. ●Demonstrated knowledge of basic, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ●Previous experience with advocacy and/or electoral organizations is highly preferred ●At least an intermediate level of proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required. ●Knowledge of diverse groups, working with a multicultural workforce, and sensitivity and appreciation of cultural differences are required. ●Strong written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills. ●Demonstrate superior customer service with internal and external customers. Must be able to respond to all inquiries in a timely, tactful and professional manner. ●Excellent planning, organizational, coordination and time management skills.
Travel: 0-10% $75,000 - $80,000 a year Total offer package to include generous vacation + sick leave + paid holidays, individual/family provided medical, dental and vision benefits effective day 1, life insurance, short/long term disability, paid family leave and 401k.
