Job Description
Role Objectives:
- Set the strategy and goals for the Oncology Business Unit (BU), drive the implementation of access, commercial and medical strategy for the BU to ensure achievement of ambitious goals
- Lead all functions (e.g. marketing, sales, medical, market access, patient advocacy and insights & analytics) within the BU and own the full P&L.
Prepare the BU/ Division for future Oncology product launches. - Develop a strong cross-functional team and ensure continuous development and professional growth of team members
- Build partnerships between Takeda, its customers & key stakeholders and maintain long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships to
drive Patient-Trust-Reputation-Business
Key Accountabilities:
Leadership:
- Establish vision & people strategy for the team
- Embed & role model Takeda values, set the tone for team culture and develop cross-functional way of working
- Foster open communication, invite feedback and lead through personal examples
- Provide frequent coaching and mentoring to direct reports and talents to advance talent development, retention and succession for critical roles
- Define, communicate, embed and measure performance goals and
standards in line with BU objectives - Drive talent acquisition for the BU and establish Takeda as an employer
of choice within oncology for your LOC
Strategy & Planning:
- Support organizational strategy development and ensure strategic needs of the local OBU are heard and fulfilled by above country teams (Region/Global) – clinical development/commercial
- Take full accountability of strategic decisions for the BU/ Division, locally (medical, market access, commercial etc.), while ensuring close collaboration within the Leadership team
- Lead the development and communication of local oncology strategy with your commercial, medical and pricing & market access etc. teams
- Drive the implementation of the strategy incorporating PTRB
- Ensure resource allocation according to strategic focus areas and to allow for impactful execution
- Manage company’s risk profile including local ‘code of practice’; identify and mitigate risks across BU that may impact Takeda
- Ensure ethics and compliance are embedded at all levels & activities within BU
- Establish a financial plan for the entire BU/ Division, in alignment with overall financial planning process and in close co-operation with EUCAN/Global financial team
- Lay the groundwork in the BU for moving into new business areas in the future
Excellence in Execution:
- Drive operational excellence for the BU/ Division (full ownership of P&L): set and own budget, targets and follow up performance and results for the BU
- Lead the development of access strategy including pricing and commercial schemes and leverage them to optimize P&L
- Ensure implementation & regular follow-up of cross-functional plans (e.g. key account management, KAM)
- Drive accountability of sales directors to establish standards and KPIs, define metrics and track progress and achievement
- Provide strategic guidance to Oncology Medical Director in medical activities (e.g. clinical trials, medical engagement activities) and oversee their implementation
- Ensure execution of lifecycle management locally and evidence generation to support local data needs
- Promote culture of learning & sharing/benchmarking with Oncology colleagues, and across the organization, to further advance ‘excellence in execution’
Customer & Stakeholder Relations:
- Set the external stakeholder relationship strategy, together with relevant internal teams, and drive communication & interactions for your BU
- Maintain relationships with key customers, KOLs, and scientific societies as well as with payers, Industry associations and PAG representatives
- Ensure the team lives and demonstrates patient and customer-centricity, defined as listening to and meeting their needs and providing innovative patient- and customer-centric solutions. Ensure that also in the team mindset the patient comes first
- Participate in key customer congresses and events for latest research updates, interactions with KOLs/HCPs and demonstrate Takeda’s presence in the field
Education and Experience:
- University degree and/or other (as locally defined)
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams at local or regional level as well as managing and developing people managers
- Proficiency in Key Account Management (KAM) model
- Experience in managing a P&L or a responsibility for
a large budget and sales - Demonstrated experience in developing value-adding ‘win-win’ solutions with external stakeholders
- Launch experience from a similar environment
Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of local oncology market, business model and local legislation
- Deep understanding of healthcare and reimbursement systems as well as treatment pathways
- Therapy and product area knowledge, as well as clinical data understanding
