The Center for Education Data and Research (CEDR) focuses on the relationship between education and social service policies and practices. Founded in 2010, CEDR examines questions of educational opportunity, access and success, examining them through a quantitative lens. Its researchers are particularly interested in examining policies and interventions that help disadvantaged groups.
One of CEDR’s strengths is its ability to leverage large-scale databases to analyze policies and practices, providing policymakers and practitioners with the information they need to translate data and evidence into action and reform. This helps policymakers in Washington state and elsewhere improve educational outcomes for all students while ensuring the effectiveness of public dollars spent on youth and making smart decisions for the future.
The School of Social Work and CEDR have an outstanding opportunity for a full time Computer Support Analyst 1 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv) . This position will develop a series of web tools aimed at collecting human resources and employment data from public school district websites.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Website development and data management for OSPI HR PROJECT
  • Technical support, programming, and data management for the collection of employment and hiring data from public school districts
  • Maintenance, merging, and utilization of WA P-20 longitudinal education databases
  • Help manage a virtual private server that helps coordinate data collection efforts
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Two years of experience in programming or computer support services of a technical nature
    OR
  • equivalent education/experience.
    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics or related field
  • 3+ years of working with Washington State, North Carolina, and Massachusetts education data.
  • Advanced proficiency in STATA, R, php, html and Python.
