Lead Advanced Practice Provider (Lead Nurse Practitioner or Lead Physician Assistant) . The position will report directly to the Chief of Neurosurgery and will indirectly report to the Chief ARNP and PA.
WORK SCHEDULE 100% FTE
Day shift, 4x10s each week
Monday – Friday, with potential for occasional weekend coverage
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Spine Center , which is part of our Department of Neurological Surgery, uses the latest technology and a multidisciplinary approach to treat simple and complex surgical spine conditions. Our surgeons provide care for common issues, including sciatica, slipped discs, scoliosis, and lower back pain. We also provide diagnostic intervention and minimally invasive surgery for tumors and blood clots.
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Serve in a key clinical leadership role
Recruit, grow, and develop the Neurosurgery Advanced Practice Provider Team at UW Medical Center-Northwest
Play an active role promoting long-rate strategic objectives at UW Medicine
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Creates a culture of excellence for professional practice
Serves as a resource, liaison, advocate, and mentor to develop Neurosurgery APPs
Develops standardized APP onboarding procedures
Provides informal and formal performance feedback, participates in annual evaluations, and develops performance improvement plans when needed
Collaborates with the Chief of Neurosurgery to create a work environment that is conducive to professional growth
Coordinates the recruitment and hiring of APP and Teaching Associate positions, in collaboration with the Chief of Neurosurgery and Department administrative partners
Oversees Advanced Practice Provider schedules across the division
Performs the duties of an Advanced Practice Provider, which includes inpatient and outpatient care
REQUIREMENTS
At least 3 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider
Current and valid Washington State ARNP licensure or Physician Assistant licensure
Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or an accredited Physician Assistant Program
DEA prescriptive authority
BLS
ACLS
Experience implementing comprehensive evidence-based practice guidelines
Experience supervising APPs, including initial and ongoing competency assessments, orientation, professional development, and annual evaluations
